How NameChangeDesk works

Our job is to make the administrative side of a name change easier to understand and manage. The exact workflow depends on the service you purchase and the facts of your case, but the journey generally looks like this:

Tell us your situation

→

Confirm the service

→

Provide documents

→

We do the covered work

→

Government / third-party processing

→

Result & next steps

1

Tell us what you need

Start by telling us:

  • Your current name
  • The name you want to use
  • Why you’re changing or correcting it
  • The state / location relevant to your case
  • Which documents are involved
  • Any affidavit, newspaper notice or Gazette notification you already have

We use this to identify the appropriate service path.

2

Confirm the service and price

Before any work begins, you should be able to see:

  • What the package includes
  • What it does not include
  • The applicable service fee
  • Any known government or third-party charges
  • Payment and cancellation terms
  • The documents we need from you

If your situation falls outside the normal scope, we tell you before treating it as a standard case.

3

Provide the required information and documents

We may request identity proof, address proof, existing name records, marriage-related documents or other case-specific documents.

Only send documents through the approved NameChangeDesk channel. Never send passwords, OTPs or unnecessary financial information.

4

We complete the work your package covers

Depending on the service, our role may include:

  • Preparing or reviewing documents
  • Preparing an affidavit or supporting draft
  • Coordinating a newspaper notice
  • Preparing application information
  • Coordinating covered submission steps
  • Communicating status updates
  • Helping identify the next step after a result

The government authority or third-party provider remains responsible for its own decision or publication.

5

Outside our control

Processing and updates

Some stages depend on external authorities or vendors. We can’t control every processing time, government decision, publication schedule or request for more information. Where tracking is part of your package, we’ll share the information available to us.

6

Receive the result and plan the next updates

A name change may not end when the Gazette notification or other primary document is obtained. You may still need to update:

Aadhaar

PAN

Passport

Bank records

Educational records

Employment records

Insurance

Property or financial records

Other identity records

Each organisation can have its own process.
