Editorial & Review Policy

People use NameChangeDesk to make decisions about documents, applications, services and administrative steps. That creates a responsibility: our content should be useful without pretending that uncertain or changing information is certain.

This policy explains how we aim to research, review, update and correct our content.

Policy last reviewed: 3 October 2026

How we research

For procedural and legal-administrative topics, we prioritise authoritative sources where available. These may include:

  • Government departments and official portals
  • Gazette or publication authorities
  • UIDAI and other official document authorities
  • Passport Seva and relevant government sources
  • Income Tax Department sources for PAN-related information
  • State government or state publication authorities
  • Official forms, notices, circulars and instructions

Secondary sources can help us understand common questions and user needs, but they should not replace primary sources when an official rule is available.

How we write

Our editorial goal is to answer the user’s practical question directly. We aim to:

  • Put the main answer near the beginning
  • Use clear headings
  • Separate steps from explanations
  • Distinguish government requirements from our service
  • Identify conditions and exceptions
  • Avoid unsupported guarantees
  • Link to relevant official sources where appropriate
  • Date time-sensitive information when useful
  • Avoid copying competitor wording
  • Correct material errors when identified

Internal review

Our content is reviewed internally for clarity, consistency and factual accuracy before publication.

NameChangeDesk content is not currently reviewed by an advocate, and we do not present any page as legally reviewed. Where a topic requires professional legal advice, we clearly distinguish general procedural information from legal advice.

Our content is intended for general informational and procedural guidance and does not replace individual legal advice.

Government information can change

Fees, forms, submission methods, addresses, processing instructions and document requirements can change.

For time-sensitive pages, we aim to record:

Last reviewedThe date the page was last checked
Primary source checkedThe official source the page relies on

If a page contains a figure or process that depends on a particular date, the page should not be presented as permanently current without verification.

Corrections

If you find an error, contact us through our contact page or by phone / WhatsApp on 98284 84009 with:

  • The page URL
  • The statement you believe is incorrect
  • The correct information, if known
  • The relevant official source, if available

Material corrections are reviewed and incorporated where appropriate.

What we do not do

  • Invent government requirements
  • Manufacture statistics
  • Publish fake testimonials
  • Invent customer case studies
  • Claim government affiliation
  • Guarantee government approval
  • Present unverified claims as official rules
  • Copy distinctive competitor text
  • Create fake advocate credentials

Source verification for government procedures

For government-facing procedures, we prefer the current official source over an older secondary explanation. Gazette and document-update procedures can change: the Department of Publication maintains dedicated change-of-name and public-notice guidance, while UIDAI and Passport Seva publish their own current document-update requirements.

Advertising and commercial interests

Some NameChangeDesk pages may recommend or sell our own services.

Commercial intent does not change the requirement to distinguish what an official authority requires from what NameChangeDesk offers as a service.

Where a service page contains a commercial recommendation, the reader should be able to understand what is included before purchasing.
